Duck You Sucker

The duck returns

I've been making more progress and working on teaching myself, things, but as to what things, only knows God (and Time Magazine and don't take any wooden nickels...)

I would dearly like to have some reason to create something, but when you have little talent and less enthusiasm its a drag. I envy those work in this business, are energetic and excited.

I'll have to settle for putting one foot in front of the next, that is if I can get them out of my mouth first.

Doin' the duck dive

Well, lets see since the last time I've written, I've lost 50 pounds and am still working my way out of this cocoon thing I've been in for a while. I've started drawing rather intensely, and it seems to be working, though I've nothing but drawings of toes to show for all the effort. I'll probably never have anything to show, but somehow it doesn't matter any more. The road is as important as the destination, and I don't have the time for self-pity. One of the benefits of being older.

Tip of the hat to all the stock folks once again, a true joy of deviantness.

Where else can you get the complete copy of the soundtrack to the 1979 television mini-series: The Martian Chronicles by Stanley Myers? A limited run of 3000 discs, released in 2002 and still available on Amazon.

Strange world.

Drawing update

I've finally got something to show, which is a pencil drawing on vellum of a room interior. I've been spending a bit of time learning about half timber houses and tudor doll houses and dragon beams. I've been looking at Laura Ashley books and came up with this.

The lines aren't the best, the shadows seem a bit off, but the cool thing is that I figured this out. Its based on a blender 3D model that I rendered in my own fake hidden line removal method. I printed the line image out, layered vellum over that, and did my drawing.

I learned a great deal about level of detail issues, tracing vs drawing and when to do it, how not to smudge and a lot more.

progress!

well, I've come up for air after finishing 2 drawings a week for 3 weeks. I've made a bit of progress and fallen in love with my set of 20 graded lead pencils, my kneaded eraser and bristol board. Its been a great joy to actually finish something and feel like I am making progress.

The more I learn, the more I learn that there's more to learn.
